AirSavings - Cost Index Administrator
AirSavings is a web browser based tool designed to allows users to manage all aspects of flight related costs that are needed to compute accurate flight sector specific Cost Indices. This Cost Index information is then used to feed onboard systems and ground-based flight planning systems with dynamic Cost Index information. Cost Index is the most important, key value, for advanced flight path optimization. AirSavings provides airlines with a long sought after capability to calculate and manage all flight cost parameters and supply these to ground flight planning and aircraft FMS equipment.
AirSavings is the first tool that integrates the task of combining complex flight cost data in a single integrated system with a single focal point: the Cost Index. AirSavings comes equipped with a unique TDMC Wizard (Time Dependent (aircraft) Maintenance Cost). The TDMC Wizard utilizes a calculation model developed by Airbus and f:wz that provides a simple method for the calculation of all relevant time-dependent maintenance costs. Without access to such a tool, many maintenance and commercial departments find that TDMC costs are difficult to calculate and that it is almost impossible to provide these costs in real time. Now with the introduction of the AirSavings system, TDMC operating cost can be easily managed and understood, allowing for calculated efficient automatic calculations to support day to day cost optimized flight operations.
AirSavings uses a database that is continuously updated with current cost information that includes: fuel prices, aircraft maintenance cost, crew and combines these costs with the operator's fleet, route structure and flight schedule. From this cost information automatic or on-demand reports are generated that detail a specific Cost Index for each individual flight or for predetermined routes and aircraft combinations.
These auto-adaptive Cost Index calculations can then be automatically exported to the customer's flight planning application or can be input manually by the dispatcher. These actions assure that flights are planned in the most cost-efficient way. The Cost Index value is then provided to the pilots as an input into the FMS at flight preparation or sent to the aircraft as an in-flight update allowing the customer to fully leverage the investment made into their modern aircraft fleets with their built in FMS capability enabling complete optimization for each flight operation.
A major benefit of the system is that AirSavings provides our customers with a very simple way to manage and perform complex flight costs calculations and to then supply these costs to all the customers planning and optimization systems. By adapting flight profiles and cruising speeds based on this up-to-date information our customers are able to determine the most efficient balance between cost of time and cost of fuel and apply these to all day-to-day operations. In today’s business environment where all these cost factors are constantly changing and rising, maintaining a precise balance between these costs is a top priority for the management of efficient flight operations and reducing marginal costs. For a typical medium-sized operator, achievable cost savings are in the range of multiple millions of dollars each year.
AirSavings also provides customers with a cost-based delay avoidance strategy that manages delays cost (passenger misconnections and other related costs) and integrates these with the time related and fuel costs to provide Cost Index calculations that can be used to offset late arrival costs. The system also provides accurate fuel tankering index for every flight that assist the dispatcher in making efficient fuel tanker decisions, including multiple leg tanker decisions.
The AirSavings system is web-based and can be hosted as a fully integrated component in the customer's IT infrastructure or run as a service hosted externally by our AirSavings support team from our secure server facilities in Vienna with user access via secure Internet connections. In either case, the effort required to keep the data current is kept to an absolute minimum by utilizing automated interfaces and our easy-to-use administrator interface.
The AirSavings support team can install the system in a very short time and will also provide user training and give valuable consulting for the introduction of efficient cost-optimizing strategies.
